A few years ago Guide Dogs ran a logo competition to design a logo celebrating the charity's 75 year celebration. Our college really got behind it and we generated a lot of good ideas. In the end the CEO of Guide Dogs decided to choose a logo designed by a professional agency and paid several thousand pounds for the design. We were all very disappointed. I hope a similar thing won't happen this time.

Hi John, thanks for your comment and sorry you were disappointed with the results of the old logo competition. However, I can reassure you Project Guide Dogs has been created to come up with a campaign to target 18 - 25 year olds, designed by young people themselves. The four winners, all selected on the criteria in the terms and conditions, will be invited to a two-day residential workshop to work on an overall campaign together with Guide Dogs staff. We hope this will be a fantastic experience for those winners. If you have any more questions you would like to ask directly, you can get in touch with us at Lorna.Catling@guidedogs.org.uk or Sylwia.Wypyska@guidedogs.org.uk.

What an awesome and exciting opportunity for students! Why not try something similiar to what People and Planet rolled out a number of years back; launching and creating student campaign/volunteer groups. Student campaign reps run stalls at freshers fairs and recruit students to the campaign whilst getting the students union involved to support the charity during RAG week and whatever other fundraising events the students organise. If I was still a student I would be more than confident that Brighton Uni (where I graduated from) would fully support the setting up of a student campaigns group to support the Guide dogs and engage wider student and community engagement. I think this is a great idea by the guide dogs... It will be really interesting to see what ideas are generated!!!
